Houston VIP Room at IQ

Just a few comments regarding the club. Saturday night was a soft opening to let everyone check out the club and while the staff was still tweeking on a few issues. The lighting on the dance floor was brighter than normal at my request. Not all the wall scounces were installed yet and the club was very dark in several places where the furniture was. No one knew the club layout with it being new so I did not want anyone stumbling around and tripping. So normally the lighting on the dance floor will be different.
The sound system is brand new and will probably have to be positioned different so that depending where you are sitting you can carry on a conversation. However the main room was pretty open so the sound will carry alot more over the old club layout. I will make sure that when DJ Chris plays on the grand opening he walks around and checks on the sound quality.
Now as for the VIP room. It is what it is. Which is that some clientele likes the feel of having that special touch. That is why some people will go to normal clubs and pay a price for a table and then have to buy bottle service on top of that price. But the staff at IQ if still tweeking on the VIP area. There is a separate dance floor and a soon to be installed dance pole as well. In the near future they are also putting in a glass wall shower for you voyeurs out there. VIP members can come and go as they please hitting both dance floors and then retreating back to the vip area where it may not be as crowded as the main room. I do understand the pro's and con's as I would much rather stand, rubbing elbows in a energy packed room than retreat to a quieter area. I want to be where the action is just as long as I can have a cold drink in my hand.

I don't think any of us are being negative.  We all just want to improve the layout to better suit us ( the cliente ).  Overall the club is awesome ( for houston ).  The attention to detail is very good.  When you walk in the club hits you with a Wow.  Definately a huge improvement over the old encounters.  I met the owners and the manager before they opened.  They seem like very good people with good intentions. They are going to improve the front of the building. I hope they also add a few palm trees out front as well.  Maybe some lights out front so people know that a nightclub is here.  Even though the Membership fees are a bit high, if you are planning for night of heavy drinking, it saves you money.  The seating is very comfortable with plenty of couches.  Very safe feeling club.  The VIP is more setup for private parties than for premium people watching seats.  I took over 500 pictures on the preview night, we will be getting some of them up on the site ASAP.

The fact that the VIP doesn't have a view of the dance floor is definately a downfall.  I think they honestly should move the VIP to the back corner where they have the raised up couches.  The dance floor is greatly lacking.  They have way too much light on it.  They need to ditch the colored flood lights, and replace them with scanning controllable lights.  More people would dance if there was less light on the dance floor.  They also need a fog machine.  I can see that the club will get packed after its first few weekends.  If you are planing on getting to the club early 9 - 10 pm then there should still be seating available for you, but if you don't get there til midnight, the VIP may be your only shot at getting a place to sit.  The nice thing about the VIP is since its so discreet you could definately party alot harder in there than on the main floor.
