We also started the P90x again, this time two a days. Today we cooked and canned more soup than we thought possible! I felt like we were back on my grandfathers farm! All the hard work is worth it since I get one hot workout partner! The post workout hottub soaks are nice too..

I agree I hit the cardio pretty insanely and slashed my carbs like crazy at first. I dropped quite a bit of weight but I got the point of what I call carb depletion. Started getting tired really quickly and then started losing what muscle mass I had because I also slashed my calories way to aggresively. So up the protein shakes to four a day, still laying off the carbs but every other day I make sure I take just a little more in. Still hitting the cardio four to five times a week but playing closer attention to my heart rate and not keeping it spiked up to high for the whole time. Meaning I jump on the treadmill and walk at a fast pace. This may or may not work for others but like the previous post said. I have found this is working for me and its keeping my body from plateauing out. Oh and for me trying to lean down I quit putting milk into the protein shakes and just do water.
Oh and I dont really like to plus to many productys. But it was suggested that I try Dymatize ISO 100 protein. Its a very clean protein, lactose free, carb free and only 100 calories a serving. Plus great flavors.

Soooooo I had this great idea to run sprints, followed by a fast walkrolling back into a sprint. All over measured distances and keep thisup for 20 minutes. Just to change up my cardio routine. It reallyseemed like a great idea at the time. Twelve minutes into it I feltlike I had been doing it for an hour. Needless to say I had been toldabout this cardio routine and it seemed relatively easy on paper. Twodays later my shins are killing me and I feel like I just went a roundin the octagon with a UFC fighter as he did nothing but lower leg kickson me. Of course I followed up that cardi routine with a nice legworkout the next day followed by thirty more minute of cardio. So I amsure that had nothing to do with it.
So how is the P90x workouts coming for everyone?

Going to start a separate topic on natural sugar as that seems to be our latest thing to try and straighten out. So could use advice on that one. Dieting or just being aware of the ingrediants going into your meal is definitely the key to losing weight. But adding in weights and cardio helps to tone and sculpt the body. We all want to lose the weight but its also nice to tighten  the old bod up also. One thing I have found as I have gotten older is I definitely have to pay closer attention to how many cheat days I have a week. I just dont seem to burn off that 20 piece chicken mcnugget and large fries as quickly as I used to. lol

So I dont think myself an expert on this subject but I have been on a fitness quest myself for the past few years. I feel like after trying the supplement thing it just doesnt work for me. Not that I dont think they dont work but I feel like every supplement I ever tried has been pulled off the shelf and every supplement "expert" I talk to says something completly different, you would think they have SOMETHING they can agree about but sadly no. I would, however, agree that supplements were good for motivating me. Everytime I saw that bottle I thought to myself "I should hit the gym hard today." So I have found my grove, and its just plain hard work! Running has definetly cut my fat tremendously. I feel like its easy to cheat yourself on all the cardio equipment except the all mighty treadmil, there's just no cheating it. Lastly there is the much debated diet. I haven't been able to stick to a diet just because I dont have that kind of will power over food! So what we do is try to eat in on the week days and make our meals from scratch giving us control over what we are actually eating. I think the best diet is just being aware, yes you can eat that chicken fried steak but remember tomorrow you should eat some baked chicken or something! That said here is my workout routine: Gym 5-6x's a week 9 exercises with NO pauses at all! It takes me about 40 minutes. Then the cardio routine is 3 miles 5x's a week. Just my two sense.

Honestly loosing fat is more about diet than the workout .  Don't get me wrong you still need to workout.  But the key is to control your sugar intake.  A friend of ours who owns his own supplement company wrote my wife a diet.  Thus far she has lost a ton of fat.  He has her on quite a supplement stack as well.  She is eating / supplementing every 3 hours.

Oh something I forgot to mention on my workout program. I was doing the 30 minutes cardio first and then going to weights. It got to the point where I was to exhausted from the cardio to hit the weights with enough energy/intensity.  So I noticed that I seemed to be losing more muscle weight than fat weight. So I switched that around and seem to be going in the right direction now.

We are on Day 17 of the Insanity program by Beach Body (same people that make P90X). It is basically massive cardio. I think our goal at this point is to get through the warm up without passing out!

P90x seems to be a good workout for most. As it gives you a designed workout plan and a set of goals. As for me. I have been in the gym for over 20 years and seem to know how to tweak my workouts for what my goals are at that time. Had a few injuries over the previous six months and decided I needed to get back on course. Right now I am doing lower weight, higher reps and hitting cardio 30 minutes five times a week. However I am doing my cardio on two different machines. I split my time between stairs, eliptical and treadmill. Sometimes I hit each for ten minutes apiece or pick two for fifteen minutes apiece. When on the treadmill I run for two minutes and walk for one minute. So between the workouts and cardio I can raise my heart rate for at least a hour and a half. It seem to be working as I am down almost fifteen pounds which was my goal. Of course changed my diet. Up the water intake, increased the protein shakes and cut the carbs. Nothing super easy and not fun at times. But when the weight starts to drop and the clothes fit better it makes it all worth while. Plus with all the upcoming summer events it makes all the extra effort worth it.
Anybody else setting goals and what are they doing to meet them.

With warm weather and bikini pool season approaching quickly. We just wanted to bring attention back to this forum topic. The Dp community whether we wish to admit it or not is all about the look and feel of our members. We go the extra mile to take care of ourselves, strive to look our best and be a cut above all of the rest. After all, its called "Desirous" Party. So when you walk into a room you want all eyes on you and not scanning over you.
We have quite a few physical trainers amongst our membership base. So not calling upon any certain member. But there are many of us who are starting P90x routines, hitting the gym, starting our cardio up again etc... We always have questions, concerns on the routines, diets, etc... So there is no better place to turn to for advice. Than to a society which is all about taking care of their appearances.

So if you wish to ask some questions, give some advice and re-ignite this forum topic. I am sure that it would be much appreciated by some. Plus it could also be used as a daily blog or diary by some. Because we all know that its not easy when you start out on a workout program and it often helps to chronicle your journey and get some advice or congrats along the way.
