I have tried many of the artificial sweeteners. Here is my opinions Sweet n Low Too sweet and has a slight metal taste in larger amounts. Equal Tastes the most like sugar but without the calories. Splenda Most worthless sweetener ever. Terrible metal taste even in low amounts. Stevia Not sweet enough, and too expensive. Sugar Always the best tasting, however the insulin spike is terrible for fat loss. High Fructose Corn Syrup Most common added sugar found in foods / drinks. Spikes insulin like crazy, I credit it for the obesity problem. Also a note about diet sodas, Its not the artificial sweeteners that are so bad for you. Its the Carbonation. The Carbonation will stripe minerals and vitamins from your body, It also reduces oxygen in your blood, making you feel tired, and weak. This is why many carbonated beverages have caffeine, The Caffeine will increase blood flow, and even in its depleted oxygen state you will get more energy. This is why beverages like mountain dew tend to make you feel more energized. Mountain Dew has less Carbonation than most Sodas, and just slightly more caffeine than a coke. The less carbonation plays a big role in its ability to give you energy. | All I am going to say is if I was a rat. I would be covered in tumors by now : )
So has anyone heard of Stevia, tried it and what are your thoughts. | For years I have stayed away from sugar. Staying with diet drinks sugar free energy drinks etc... Now all I hear is that the artificial sweetners are bad for you as they slow your metabolism down, cause cancer, etc.... So then I heard about Stevia. We are trying the Stevia version that is added with a little pure cane sugar. The brand we are using is called Sun Crystals, has 5 calories a pack and is equivalent to two teaspoons of sugar. I admit its not as sweet as sweet n low but the reviews are good. Plus they claim you can bake with it. Plus I just found a zero calorie energy drink made with Stevia. Its called of all things, "Nerd". Its bottled in San Antonio and taster alot like Mountain Dew.
