Total Takeover Group Trip to Ceiba Del Mar- Cancun, Mexico- Recent review from Ceiba Del Mar

Some recent reviews from guests who have returned from Ceiba Del Mar. Just another way to make you want to speed up that calendar until the group trip.

Upon our arrival to the lesser known resort in the beach town Puerto Morelos, found along the Mexican coast line about halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, the bell hop quipped, "Welcome to paradise!" as he brought my girlfriend and me to our room. This was an understatement.

First, Puerto Morelos was a great find. None of the crowds of Cancun or Playa del Carmen, just a sleepy little beach town with a few restaurants catering to tourists like us who wanted to get away from it all. We had one of the most amazing dining experiences at Merkadito del Mar , some of the best ceviche and fish tacos ever , better than any thing we had in Playa del Carmen this trip. The food was so authentic and delicious we made a special stop back at Merkadito on our way to the airport. Additionally, Puerto Morelos was located within about twenty minutes from Playa del Carmen and Cancun so we had no problem making trips to either of the major destinations.

What can I say about Ceiba del Mar? The service was amazing from the start. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with two glasses of sparkling red wine while we checked in. We were taken on a tour around the grounds of whom I've already spoken. When we saw our room, my girlfriend and I literally gasped. We had not one but two balconies overlooking the pool and the beach , one with a hammock. There were two separate bathrooms, an amazing plush bed with the softest pillows I think I've ever slept on, a large flat screen television (which I must say was largely ignored) and every thing was spotless.

During the rest of our stay on the beach, poolside and at the two restaurants, we were greeted with one remarkable experience after another. We were pampered by the quiet beaches where we were served food and drinks without hesitation and always with a smile. One day, when we could not find any free beach chairs, one of the bellhops found two more and set them up for us while we sat poolside drinking multi-colored cocktails. In the restaurants, one of them beachside, we had the most amazing food , I can still remember the capresse salad and the lamb skewers we had our last day there. Also, there was an in-pool bar which served the most delicious drinks! Oh, to top it off, they have iPod decks in each room and they'll even provide one for you if you did not bring your own iPod to which you can listen in your room.

Overall, the service was amazing and we were treated like royalty. I think one of the best things about Ceiba del Mar was its authenticity. It just did not have that watered down, one size fits all feel of your typical resort. What may have set it apart is the service.

Welcome to paradise!

One more for you to peruse.

My spouse and I just returned from a fabulous 5-night getaway at Ceiba

del Mar. We stayed in one of the penthouse suites (#43), which featured a
large deck overlooking the pool area and beach you could see for
miles in each direction. There were separate sleeping, lounging and
dining areas, a small second bathroom just inside the front door, a
bar area with mini-fridge, walk-in closet space, 2 large flat screen
TVs and a nice sized master bath with double sinks, shower, toilet and
seated vanity area. The decor was elegant Mexican/Caribbean and the local
artwork displayed throughout was understated and beautiful. There was
a solid carved stone soaking tub off the master bath, again with a
full ocean view, just steps from the heated private plunge pool.

A small "butler's door" allowed the staff to deliver morning coffee,
orange juice and pastries to your room without disturbing you - the
basket was waiting on the bar counter next to the front door, right
when you scheduled it to arrive, along with the morning's newspaper.
Such a nice touch, as having to greet room service in pajamas or a
towel has never been a favorite travel ritual.

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was fantastic - lots of healthy options like
fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt, but also an impressive selection of
traditional local dishes with beans, eggs, meats and veggies. There
was a Mexican buffet for dinner one night, which was very good and
authentic, and the regular menus for both restaurants had a nice
selection of fresh seafood and meat dishes - there were a couple
vegetarian entrees but we didn't try them. Both a.m. and p.m. buffets
had a "cooked to order" station with a chef on duty for a variety of
Mexican dishes, which was fun.

The wine list was quite impressive, and the by-the-glass options
were also excellent - there was even a temp-controlled wine room
off the patio in the main restaurant. And the bartenders made sure
your cocktail was exactly as you ordered it, which was much appreciated!!

Overall, the food, drinks accommodations and service were wonderful.
There was never a shortage of palapas, chaise lounges or towels at the
beach, and the staff made sure you had everything you needed to eat
and drink, even bringing around a tray of fresh fruit bites for
everyone mid-afternoon.

Last but certainly not least, be sure to take
advantage of the spa services - we were very impressed with the
facilities, body treatments and massages. Two separate trips to the
spa were both amazing, especially a couples massage with a full body
wrap of warm, herbal infused towels.

Our special thanks to GM Heriberto Garcia, who greeted us by name every day and consistently took the time to stop and ask how our stay at Ceiba del Mar was going, and Room Service Manager Christian, who went out of his way to ensure that every request was met with a smile!

Below are some recent reviews of Ceiba Del Mar- Cancun:

12/26/10:

My wife and I were at the Ceiba del Mar from November 22-27, 2010 celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. I have to say that everything about our stay was pure magic and relaxation. From the moment we checked in and got our complimentary raspberry wine, to the sad moment we had to check out, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. For example, I have never stayed in a property this close to the beach! Being able to literally step outside on your private patio and see the pool and beautiful blue and turquoise water was simply breathtaking. The staff really went out of their way to say "hola", smile, and do whatever they could to ensure that our stay was truly exceptional. The spa facilities, free to use, consisted of an incredible jacuzzi, steam shower, as well as swiss shower. The fact that you can use these facilities for free, borrow a bike or book for free is truly terrific. Also, the free coffee service passed into our closet through a door in the hallway every morning was terrific as it was included in the room price and included coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice as well as delicious pastries. I can honestly say that Ceiba del Mar is my favorite resort in the world. I can't wait to return and rekindle the magic.

12/23/10:
I was at this resort for a wedding. I loved the friendliness of all of the staff, there was always a smile and an hola whenever you passed someone on the grounds. There is not much reason to leave the premises: the sea and beach is at your door, two lovely restaurants and bars, a pier, a dive shop and a coral reef nearby. The room we had was large, clean and decorated nicely. There is a great spa on the premises: don't miss the Mayan 90 minute massage: heaven!

12/22/10:
I have visited Ceiba del Mar Hotel three times now, and I am planning a fourth visit. It is on a beautiful beach, closer to the airport than Cancun or Playa del Carmen, yet an easy taxi ride to either. The staff is unbelievable!!! I have stayed many times in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, from small places to the giants, but Ceiba del Mar is THE place to stay. Good food, excellent service, great beach, great beach service (go George, Jorge, Javier, and especially, MIGUEL!!) great pools, morning coffee service in your room is PERFECT!! The spa is well adorned and has everything! Get a chocolate massage by Socorro!!!!! She is to die for!!!! Nearby Puerto Morelos is a sleepy (and I mean SLEEPY!) little fishing village, with great restaurants!!! good shops, good dive shops. And a short cab away is Playa or Cancun. This is the place to vacation in Mexico. You will never go anywhere else!!

12/16/10:
We arrived at one PM on Sunday and were greeted with Drink and fresh towels. The concierge was a delight. We opted for a room upgrade and the cost was presented as a Spa Credit. The room was beautiful and on the first floor near the infinity pool. One splash and you could glide to the bar where Miguel would be at your service. We took the all inclusive route and it was a wonderful treat not to have to worry about prices. Top brand liquors and ice cold beer were there for the asking. We met some wonderful couples from all over the world and that added to the ambiance and friendliness of everyone there. My wife enjoyed her three mornings of Massage and the spa. The gym and Mens spa was equally wonderful. The adjacent Library was very quiet and had two computers to do any e-mailing. We are already planning a return trip.

12/3/10:
The rooms are lovely, we had a master suite with the spa option. Best massage I've every had. Ocean/pool view. The am coffee service was so wonderful, that was breakfast enough for us with coffee, juice and rolls/sweetrolls. We ate at one of the restaurants twice, Arrecife, and it was wonderful food. One night we did room service, which was good, and then we went to town the last three nights. You can walk to town in about 20 minutes but we rented a car and parking is free, valet. Low pressure place. Beds very comfortable and the place was clean clean clean. It was just a really nice place.
