Soap Box Ike pwr outage...How long was yours out? Damage?
We got ours back last Friday. I am amazed at how much we take for granted just having electricity. You get a quick reminder of how nice life is with it when it goes out. Now if I can get that tree off my fence everything will be alright! |
| We got electricity last Tuesday,sooo lucky !! We just had little leaks and water.And kids come back school tomorrow.We hope everyone are doing well !!! xoxo M & V. |

| Just getting back online since last checking the site on Friday night as the storm was coming in. After powering the house with a generator for four days I have a much greater appreciation for the small things in life that we take for granted. Such as a cell phone that works, electricity and the almighty ICE. Laporte has been pretty much on a lock down due to the damage and only letting citizens back into the city. Today things are getting a little back to normal around the city and just in the nick of time. People are starting to get a little cranky, testy and not so neighborly after sitting in lines for hours for gas, water and ice. Now comes the all fun stuff of cleaning up, dealing with adjustors and finding the right repair companies who will not rip you off. So if any DP'ers have companies that can offer their services now is the time to post them to the forum. I am sure that there is alot of us who need new roofs, fences, sheetrock etc..... Also with that said. I will be checking on TMZ to see if the club received any damage that would stop this weekends event. Because I am sure that there will be alot of us who will be ready to get out and party, relieve some stress and mix n mingle with our friends. I will keep you posted. |

| Finally able to get out of work. Heather and I have both been on Hurricane duty since Thursday. We both rode it out safely. Her in the Med Center and me in Freeport. At out house we just got power back today at 3-4pm. I was going to stay at work another night if no power at work but came home to watch the Cowboys game we were suppose to be at. Throwing money out the window. But cant wait till friday though. We are on our way to Green Bay to the Cowboys game there. As to damage we have 3 sides of our fence down, the 2 trees in the front yard down and having some issues with our breaker box after one of the fence post struck it. AC and half the house lights are out. Had to hook the fridge up to an extension cord to get power to it. Will have to talk to one of the guys at work to get his help troubleshooting the issues. |
| We are still without power. Half our fence is gone. Roof and windows are fine. We are living out of a hotel in San Antonio til the power is restored to our home. The Marriot we are staying in is full of IKE refuges. I swear everyone here must have a laptop and be using bit torrent, because someone in this hotel is hogging all the bandwidth, I have gotten faster connection speeds from dialup. |
| We finally got ours back. 40 hrs no power. 30ft Pine tree snapped in our front yard and six sections of our fence down. |
