Party Ideas Hippie Hollow
| Lake report: lake Travis is 651' . 30 feet below capacity. Expect the lake to drop another 8 to 10 feet before the BBB party. Three boat ramps are inservice, but The sandy creek ramp will close within the next two weeks. the remaining two ramps will remain inservice until the lake drops an additional 20 feet so they should remain available until the end of summer. The water is clear and a has surface temp of 76f. The only thing missing is a hot naked crowd to bring the party. G and I will set up and anchor the island behind the barges so feel free to swim by and float with us. |
| As sng said, it's not a lifestyle venue, but it is definitely a fun place to spend a day. The first cove is the straight party and the far end of the park is the gay party. The gawkers tend to stay up in the trees in between the entrance and the first cove, so it's not hard to get away from them. The crowd tends to be a lot of older guys with women interspersed, many of them not in great shape. The regulars in the first cove are great people, tend to be in much better shape, and have more women than the norm. If you look around, you'll usually find pockets of younger, fitter couples. They are often newbies who are trying out the park for the first time and will be near the entrance because they have no idea where else to go. |

| Hippie Hollow is not a "lifestyle" venue, it is a public park that allows nudity. That is really the main draw. There isn't really anything else other than a rocky beach and a nice lake. The general perception is that it is a gay park, this is due to the "Splash Day" festival that is very similar to the BBB event but attended mostly by very fit, skinny guys in Speedos. The average weekend crowd is still heavy on the dudes, especially on the far end of the park at the end of the swim area. The middle of the park has two names "Swinger's Rock" and "Radio Rock". This is a deep cove that usually holds 25 to 50 couples. The rest of the park is really a mixed bag with no real pattern. Often, a car full of day laborers will pay the 12 dollar entry and will gawk. They keep their distance but like to stare. Most park visitors are very polite, almost to a fault. People tend to ignore others and they keep to themselves. This time of year the water is cool and has 5 to 15 feet of visibility. The shoreline is a series of rock ledges and does not have sand to relax in, so bring a float to lay on for comfort. The lack of mosquitos is a definite plus for laying out naked, but don't forget to pack & use the sunblock! Be careful, the park rangers are law enforcement and can be very strict, they give you a set of rules at the entrance and large signs are posted at the parking lot advising you of the rules; they don't usually give further warnings. Sexual contact or lewd behavior is not tolerated. Despite all this the park is very nice and it is fun to get out and skinny dip, take a walk, or lay out without the clothes. This is quite possibly the most liberating thing one can do outdoors in Texas! |

| Its mostly gay guys you are not gonna want to see lol. BUT there are some lifestyle people who hang out there, and some are even attractive. Our advice would be to go by boat and if you dont have one rent one...otherwise its probably not worth going. Have fun! |
| The wife and I are planning a get-a-way to Austin in May. We are wanting to give Hippie Hollow on Lake Travis a try. Can anyone provide us with information or experiences? Thanks a bunch. :) |
