No, its totally different. Irene and Angie use a different service and you will be taken directly there. The only other passengers will be couples who are staying at Desire. It was the same on the way back also. So you dont stop at any other hotels. It's always taken us about the same time, 15-20 minutes, to leave the airport and arriving at the resort. However I do know what you are talking about as I have taken other trips to Cancun and you make multiple stops along the way. Desire is not in the hotel zone so you dont have to worry about that on this trip. |
We do the same thing. You may either contact Angie or Irene and give them your flight times and they will input that on your travel records for the transfers. If you dont contact them they will contact you before mailing your travel documents and confirm your flight times. We normally forget and Irene calls us. However to be organized and stress free you can always call them. |
No you dont. Lifestyles will find out your flight times and will have your driver waiting on you when you exit the security areas. He will be holding a Desire Resort sign and will have your names on his list. |
Ground transportation to Desire is really easy and the Cancun airport is much more user friendly than Montego Bay. Worst case scenario is that you won't make your ground connection (not likely) and will have to take a taxi. All of the ground transfers are right outside the exit and it is a short walk to the waiting buses, taxi's, etc. Even if you miss your ground connection, taxi's are easy to get and it is about a $25 fare to Desire which is about 25 minutes away. Don't sweat this one at all. It's easy getting to Desire from the airport. |
Tonya | Thanks for the info. This will be our first time flying into Cancun but hopefully it will not be any worse than the Montego Bay airport. No matter what the airport is like as long as they get us to Desire to enjoy a great week with all the new people we can't wait to meet we'll be fine. I guess you can say we are very easy going people who take things in stride and don't let the small things get to us. Can't wait to get there to meet you all.
If you have flown into Montego Bay and survived that airport then Cancun will be a cake walk. Every time we fly into Montego I am very happy to get to the superclubs waiting area. |
We have used the transfers both times to the resort. Not sure if you have flown into Cancun before. But once you get past Mexico Immigration you grab your bags. Then you get into a line and press the button to get the red or green light to decide to check your bags. Once past this you walk through the doors and enter a hallway where desks are set up and everyone is trying to sell you a time share of some other service. Say a polite no thanks and walk outside where all the ground transfers are. Go to the left and you will see several drivers holding signs. One will state Desire Resort and he will have your names on his list. He will take your bags and escort you to the van. We have never had any problems finding our driver and its always been on time. Lifestyles Tours and Travel uses a company that is very dependable and friendly. The hardest part is getting through the maze that the airport has set up for tourists to get outside. |
Tonya and Shane | We booked ground transfers when we booked the resort. We did use the DP preferred agent when booking. Can anyone tell me how reliable the transfer service is? I know on some other Desire boards people recommend not booking in advance due to not being picked back up on time to catch their flights. Since we have never traveled to Mexico before we booked transfers in advance. We just want to make sure we did not make a mistake. Thanks in advance for any advice.
