Dec 2, 2005 11:09 AM (18+ Years) Which means that American car companies are not doing very good which we have known for sometime. They all have some fat to trim where they will be efficient again. But it sucks that over 37,000 americans have to lose their jobs over this which means that alot of lives will be in chaos for sometime. It will take awhile for the job market to soak up that many unemployed. |
Nov 30, 2005 1:16 AM (18+ Years) GM can talk all they want about how they are going to cut costs. Laying off 30,000 People will have a pretty big impact, because thats 30,000 people who will no longer buy GM because they feel betrayed. They still fail at creating cars that can compete with Honda and Toyota. The latest Consumer Reports just go to show that. Some of GMs newer cars such as Cobalt were rated with the worst reliability. GM needs to stop creating cars for baby boomers, and start creating cars for a younger generation. GM is destined to for failure. |
Nov 26, 2005 9:24 AM (18+ Years) 9 plants closings, 30,000 jobs cut and add in losing 5 billion of your cash surplus. If they are not close to chapter 11 then they are doing a very good job of faking it. It was interesting to read that $3500 of every car sell goes toward their health and retirements plans. They better turn it around quick or it going to be called GM/Japan motors. lol |
Oct 28, 2005 12:48 PM (18+ Years) I think GM is destined for chapter 11. Does anybody else have any thoughts on GM's future, or lack of? |
