www.advantagesupplements.com. I use the optimum nutrition protien shakes. they come in a 5lb tub for around $25. The taste is great. This is much cheeper than buying the $4 drinks at the gym. I agree with the posts above too. EAT!!!! The biggest mistake I made in my teans was not eating enough or getting enough protien. I know it might be hard but try to get him eating 5 or 6 meals a day. With about 30-40 grams of protien for each meal. Even if its something as simple as a protien bar in between classes. For those I recommend checking out ebay. There are a few sellers that sell Protien bars in bulk, they are expired but still taste great. This can take your average cost per bar from $3 down to 20 cents. Creatine is great, just make sure your water intake is good. The creatine works best if you take it with some simple sugars like dextrose. ( Gatorade ). | If you are looking for supplements at great prices checkout
At his age is metabolism and testosterone levels should be through the roof. Which is a very good thing. If he wants weight gain (muscle weight gain). He needs to increase his protein intake by alot. Like what was suggested in another post he needs to eat, eat and eat. At the age of 16 he evidently is a fat burning machine if he needs to gain some weight. My suggestion would be teach him how to make protein shakes and have him drink about three to four a day. Plus what he normally eats. With a good weight program and with the increased protein intake you should start seeing a new him in a very short period of time. Others can suggest a few supplements that he can take safely that will also aid the process. But I would put real muscle on him that will stay around and his power will also increase in the gym and also football field. | Here is my two cents on creatine as I have tried it several times in the past. Creatine basically swells the water cells in the muscles. Which in concept makes you look bigger with a bigger pump. I have read reports where it suggests that you do not take creatine if you are doing strenous exercise in the heat. ie. football practice during two a days and the such. Now I took creatine religiously and I rode a bicycle for 8 hours a day in the middle of the summer and had no problems. The secret is to drink water non stop or you will cramp up. I did see some strength gains and some size increase from taking creatine. However it quickly goes away and for your son's purpose I would not recommend it.
