Soap Box Change your Texas Electric Utility and Save Money
| First of all I am a republican / independent, which means I hate taxes, and hate government getting involved in business. But I just came out of a 1 year Electric Contract with Stream Energy. Before I just signed up again, I wanted to make sure I got the best rate. So a quick google search and I found Powertochoose.org Its a website run by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and lists out all the available electric companies and their rates. This is one instance where I am very happy government got involved. If you are paying month to month for electricity, or are about to get out of a contract I highly recommend you visit their website to find a company that can lock in a low rate for you. Month to month places as cheap as 8.8 cents / KWH, and I just locked in my Rate for 1 Year at 10.7 cents / KWH with Brilliant Energy. This will result is a 25% savings, and My previous rate was already pretty cheap. If you are with any of the big companies that advertise ( Reliant, TXU, ext ) you are paying way too much. I know many people might not be thinking of their electric bill right now as its winter, but come summer when you have those $300+ / month electric bills the savings could be huge! I am not getting anything for posting this link.
