My thought is that these are roles you can't play unless it's really in you. It's one thing to imagine what being a doctor or lawyer or psycho is but when it comes to pulling off being a true dominating personality... you either "is or you ain't." This realm is best left to those who live it. |
I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of the release of the sequel. The original was noteworthy for the dreary absence of any sort of chemistry between the two lead characters. Plus the equation of 'BDSM' and 'damaged psyche' is an eye-roller. And don't get me started about a 20-something self-made billionaire. If they cast a male lead who looked more like a man than a boy (think: Dom Draper), dropped most of the neurotic psycho drama, found an actress who could walk the path from innocent neophyte to submissive/slave, scaled back on the helicopters & such, it could be a hella sexy good time! Seems like a missed opportunity; and I'd wager that it's mostly because the author retained so much casting & scriptwriting control.
